RE: Definition of Porpoising

I've had porpoising occur on the interestate from turbulence behind a semi when running 70-75 mph with my pop up TC. As soon as I pass the semi it stops. I've driven many truck, truck-trailer and RV combinations and never remember feeling this before.
And it does feel like a hobby horse ride with the whole vehicle doing it.

RE: Posts deleted on a thread

I've replyed to posts and found that it disappeared, and it wasn't in any way controversial. ??????
I guess some persons opinions are more valuable than others!
I do wish someone would delete some of the useless chatter that gets left in some posts.

RE: 2 Studs or 3 Studs? ... That Is the Question!

Check with the Post Office for shipping, you can get a quote on line giving dimensions and weight.
I just sold an item on Ebay that was in three boxes, 49#,55# and 58#. Shipping from Fl. to Puerto Rico Fedex wanted over $600. Post Office charged $127. for all three boxes!!!
The bottom stud is probably more critical, It's hard to argue with $40.
It might just be a Spline Bolt, same as a carrage head bolt but with splines and a better grade. If Spline Bolt you should be able to remove the inner leg and knock it out and fish a new one in and set it with a nut and washers.

RE: Is my converter bad?

As stated, I would plug in at home and see if it does it there. In a campground you might have been getting surges from other campers AC's cycling or some other load coming and going.

RE: Recharging TC battery from Truck battery

I bought a new, never sold 2007 SunLite SB Pop-up two months ago and had to rewire the 6 way plug on the front of the camper to match the 7-way receptacle on my 04 Silverado. I'm sure Chevy wire placement will be more common.
If I am stopped using 12v items I will unplug the 6-way to keep the truck battery from discharging.
Using an inverter to run the converter to charge the TC battery is very inefficient.
If you don't understand low voltage (12V) wiring you need to seek help. Hooked up wrong could cause a fire or damage appliances.

RE: GM "Employee Pricing"

When I bought my 04 Silverado I knew what I was looking for so I went to the local dealers web sites and looked through their inventory. When I walked on their lot I had the VIN number on me that I wanted to look at. I saw prices on simular trucks on line and I knew what discounts were available. If you can say so-and-so has this and that for this much you can get some leverage.
Trading in is the best way to loose money. The dealer has to re-sell your vehicle so he can't give you what it's really worth.
With the economy as it is now if I didn't see tears in the salesmans eyes I would know I paid too much.

RE: Just another reminder about watching your clearance

The problem with hauling hydraulic equipment is that everytime you hit a woup-de-do on the highway the cylinders can inch up just a little if booms and other fixtures aren't secured. Before the driver knows it there is a sudden stop!
Happens all too often!

RE: Adventurer and general TC questions.

I bought my TC 215 miles from home and brought it home with the bedliner in the truck with no problems. I used nylon ratchet straps hooked to the leg brackets to hold it in and ran 65-75 mph for 200 miles. I did have to put my tailgate in the TC to come home. I wasn't sure I was going to buy the TC.

RE: Wood choice

Look at some of the manufactured wood (wood/plastic) like they sell for decks. I used some in a boat floor repair and it cuts, glues and screws great. Not that expensive in the small quanities that you will need.
I saw some used for a walkway about 2 miles long through/accross/around dunes at a park at Mantanzas Inlet Florida. If it will hold up there it will hold up most anywhere!

RE: School me on truck campers

Just a tip, the 6.5 or 8' is the bed section of the TC and dosen't include the cabover.
I just bought a 2007 TC with manual crank jacks and I bought a 1/2" battery drill from Harbor Freight for $39. on sale. I made an adapter for it. Works great and fast!

RE: Selling on ebay suggestions

Ebay works sometimes, I just had a deadbeat buyer on a $1000. item and Ebay was less than helpful. There big solution was cancel the sale and relist and they will give the deadbeat a "Strike".

RE: New tc options? And ladies, is a bathroom mandatory?

My TC has a very small storage area for a Porta-potti and the one I have seen at Wallyworld ($67.) might fit, BUT, the thing looks like it was made for a toddler! Maybe 12" tall. I guess you put it on a 5 gal. bucket to use it?????
Those Bags seem like an option. If you have ever had to take care of business RIGHT NOW they would be great. The 5 gal. bucket would probably work there too.

RE: Closing a Pop-Up TC?

I have a Sun Lite Eagle SB made by Sun Valley in Indiana. (1280lbs as equiped)
I have a roof AC but no vent. The top REALLY wants to come down with the AC so I have to tie the crank handle half way down. I can reach it all the way around if I stand in the truck door frames for the front.
I've though about making a bungee to go all the way around on the outside of the material that would pull it in.

Closing a Pop-Up TC?

I bought a new TC about a month ago and have found that to close it I have to crank it about half way down and then go outside and tuck the material in or else the top will set down with it sticking part of the way out. Is this how everyone else has to do it?

RE: to leave water or not to leave water is the ?

You always need to consider the source of your water. When I lived in the city I would leave water in my tank for up to two months. I now live open rural on two acres with my own water well (no water treatment except softener). I will not leave water in the tank for any length of time. I see alge trying to grow in my cats water bowl and a bird bath and I have to keep them clean.

RE: Coleman Mach 3 PS AC troubleshooting…..

There should be a start capacitor for the fan motor. I'm guessing it's bad. They fail often enough and are not that expensive. If you can read the numbers on it you can buy a generic one from Grainger or an electric motor repair shop.

RE: I'm settin' me up a man-cave

My first thought is a moveable wall so you are not restricted to the very front. Kind of an indoor slide. Unload the toys and double your space.
Maybe a dance pole to go with your music! ;)

RE: Under Bed Storage

I'd LOVE to be able to post pics to this site but I'm older than 12 years old and I have no kids to show me how! I've looked at the instructions and don't have a clue what they are talking about! I post on other sites, I even ebay and they are so simple, I don't know why this site is so difficult.

Under Bed Storage

I just bought some Rubbermaid plastic containers that fit perfect under my lift up bed. The storage area is just under 4" high and these fit perfect. I can get 6 of them in just one section. I wanted something to keep First Aid supplies in and I found these at Walmart 2-for $3.48. They are called Rubbermaid Takealongs 1 gallon. They show putting food in them. The bar code is 71691 41692 .
This will help with my storage for those little things I like to have and make it easy to orginize and store them until needed.
